There’s Tons of Fun Near Breakers Resort: See it on Foot!

Here’s a list of places to visit that are within walking distance of Breakers:

• Enjoy a treat at Fat Matt’s Ice Cream. This ice cream parlor has everything from hand-scooped ice cream cones to sundaes and New York-style egg creams, plus hot dogs and chili. It’s located at 2016 North King’s Highway.
• Stop off for a cold one at Dirty Don’s Oyster Bar. Choose from hot wings and oysters on the half shell or “Dirty Don’s Dunkin’ Pot,” a pile of steamed shellfish topped with sausages and corn on the cob and served with garlic bread. Happy hour at Dirty Don’s is from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, ask about drink and food specials. The bar is located at 408 21st Ave. North, Myrtle Beach.
• Putt it up at Captain Hook’s Adventure Golf. Choose from two 18-hole miniature golf courses, Hooks or Lost Boys. It’s fun for the whole family with animatronic crocodiles, caverns and a 15-foot-tall smoking skull. Visit for seasonal hours and pricing.
• Do some shopping at Eagles Beachwear. When you’re on vacation, you know you’ve got to do some shopping. Guests at Breakers Resort are in a great location to hop on over to Eagles Beachwear, where you’ll be able to pick up gifts for your friends back home (or for yourself!) from T-shirts and shot glasses to beach bags and water toys. Find it at 1900 North Kings Hwy.
• Grab a pie at Michael’s New York Style Pizza. Michael’s has appetizers, pizzas, subs and burgers and even Paninis, all within a 10-minute walk of Breakers Resort. It’s located at 1701 North Kings Hwy.
• Touch, explore and play at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina. Kids love the hands-on educational exhibits at the Children’s Museum. Current exhibits include the USS Kids-A-Float, art center, bubble mania and “It’s Electric,” in which kids can build circuits that turn on lights and motors. Located a half-mile from Breakers Resort near the intersection of Oak Street and Myrtle Place near the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Visit the children’s museum website for pricing and special events.
• Go to the beach! It’s only steps away from Breakers Resort, and really, isn’t it what you came for? Get sand between your toes, go for a long walk, or start up a casual family game of beach disc golf, with overturned bucket or even a cooler as your target.

So next time you visit Myrtle Beach’s Breakers Resort, try exploring the area on foot. You may be surprised by what you find!
