Taste the Best Seafood in Myrtle Beach at the Sea Captain’s House

If you come to visit Myrtle Beach, you have to eat seafood. We’re pretty sure there’s a law about it somewhere. And there is no better choice for seafood than the Sea Captain’s house, the top spot for seafood in Myrtle Beach. Our Compass Cove guests love this classic upscale restaurant, which has more awards than any other restaurant in Myrtle Beach, including “Best Seafood Restaurant” from Southern Living Magazine for four years in a row.

The oceanfront Sea Captain’s House restaurant is steeped in Myrtle Beach history, as well. Originally built as a vacation home in 1930 by a couple from North Carolina, it was later turned into a guesthouse, then became a restaurant in the early 1960s.

Today, its gorgeous ocean views, superbly executed breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as its historic building all make the Sea Captain’s House as enjoyable as it is iconic.

For breakfast, try the chef’s favorite breakfast: the seafare omelet with fresh crab, shrimp, mushrooms and Monterey cheese. For lunch, it’s hard to pass up the Carolina shrimp salad, one of the most popular dishes on the menu for more than 30 years. Then there’s the traditional shrimp and grits at the Sea Captain’s House, with sautéed shrimp, onions, celery and bacon; it’s often called the best in Myrtle Beach, with the creamiest grits around. And we haven’t even mentioned the hush puppies! Crisp on the outside, tender with a lightly sweet corn flavor on the inside, they’re a favorite southern treat.

If you’re staying at Compass Cove, the Sea Captain’s House is a quick 10-minute drive north, and it’s a great way to get a delicious seafood fix while you’re visiting Myrtle Beach.
